C001 [Tablet on north wall beside the font] He/ that hath pity upon/ the poor lendeth unto the Lord and/ look what he layeth out it shall be paid/ him again – Proverbs Chapr 19 Verse 17/ Benefactions to the church and poor/ Wm and Jn MILLSOP gave 20£ each in 1666/ with which said 40£ a piece of land was/ purchased in Wintoft Field called Town Close/ containing 2 acres, 2 roods and is let for / 3£ per annum and given to the poor/ Edmund LAND and Thomas SHORTEN/ admitted at a court holden for the/ manor of Curples as trustees for this charity/ Gregory LOVELL Esqr a native of this/ town give 500£ in 1693 with which land/ has been purchased at Upwell and now let/ for 44£ per annum. He appointed that a sermon/ should be preached every year on Lady Day/ Midummer Day and St Thomas’s Day/ and the minister to receive 40 shillings for/ each sermon, the residue to be distributed/ amongst the poor/ The feffees of this charity are/ Willm BOYCE Willm ROPER/ John ROPER John STEBBING/ George PRESS Willm TURNBULL/ James OLLETT Ewd LOCK/ In 1706 Mrs Mary GREEN of the Grange/ gave a silver flagon for the communion/ weighing 5 ounces 15 dwt and inclosed/ the table with rails/ Go thou and do likewise/ Luke Chapter 10 Verse 37

[The plaque is translated as follows:
 ‘D.O.M. (Deo Optimo Maximo – to God the best and greatest)
Thomas Dereham, Baronet, son of Richard Dereham, Knight and Baronet, and of Frances*, eldest daughter of Robert, Viscount Purbeck, having regard to his prudent, provident, and dearly loved mother, and also to the liberality of Thomas Dereham, Knight, formerly envoy of James II, King of England, at (the court of) Cosimo III, Grand Duke of Tuscany, eldest son of Richard Dereham of Boston in the county of Lincoln, Esquire and cousin of Richard Dereham, Knight and Baronet:  Which Thomas (son of Richard of Boston) returned to the Manor of Dereham, built the Palace anew, at his own cost, enlarged the demesnal roll of rents and appointed his cousin’s widow executrix of his will and her son his heir:  In order that the memory of the beneficent magnanimity of his illustrious Predecessors should be transmitted to posterity, has during his lifetime erected this monument of a grateful heart.A.D. 1722.’]

C008 [White tablet on east wall to north of altar] Sacred to the memory of Priscilla/ wife of William ROPER gent/ of The Abbey Farm in this parish/ who died the third and was interred/ on the seventh day of September/ in a vault at the foot of the north door/ in this church AD 1840/ also to the memory of/ William ROPER gent/ late resident of this parish/ for the period of fifty years/ who died in the 72nd year of his age/ on the 13th day of May 1844/ Seek the Lord while he may be found

C009 [White tablet on east wall to south of the altar] In a vault beneath/ are interred the mortal remains of/ John STEBBING gent/ of The Grange Farm in this parish/ who departed this transitory life/ the 28th day of November 1837/ aged 48 years/ also Hannah his only daughter/ who was called to another and better world/ the 30th day of November 1839/ at the early age of 16/ also Hannah STEBBING/ wife of the above/ who departed this life/ the 8th day of October 1853/ aged 68 years

C010 [Beneath a statue mounted on the south wall of the choir] In a vault near this place lies the body of the Honble Colonell Edmond SOAME of Deerham/ Grange in this parish son of Edmond SOAME of London merchant and Mary his wife which/ Edmond SOAME was one of the sons of Sr William SOAME of Thurloe Hall in Suffolke/ and she the daughter of Simon MIDDLETON of Hackney in the county of Middx Esqr/ In the reign of King Wm and Queen Mary he went a volunteer in to the warrs/ in Ireland & to their Majtys and his contreys service dedicated the revenues of a plentiful estate/ which he inhertited and having a captains commission given him he behaved himself in all ye warrs/ during the reign of that king with such eminent courage and fidelity that when Queen Anne came to the crown her majesty first rewarded him with a lietenant colonels commission and/ afterwards wth the command of a regiment and being by his sovereigne sent on an expedition against/ Spain he died as he was going att Tourbay in Devonshire the 8th of Septr 1706 in the 38th year of his/ age being thus immaturely cutt of when he was in pursuit of and ready to be raised to the highest military/ honours. In the time of peace and during the recess of arma he was severall years a representative/ in parliament for the ancient borough of Thetford in this county where he approved himself to be as true &/ faithfull a patriot in the senate house as he was a brave and honourable commander in the field/ In the same vault is interred the body of his only sister Mra Mary GREEN who died the 10th of August 1710/ relict of Giles GREEN Esqr where she lies/ (according to her desire) between her husband and her/ brother and in her last will requested her executrix Dame Elizabeth JENYNS wife of Sr Roger/ JENYNS of Botisham Hall in Cambridgeshire to erect this monument

C012 [White tablet on south wall] In memory of/ Thomas CATTON gent/ many years resident at Barsale House in this parish/ esteemed and respected by his friends and neighbours/ who departed this life on the 25th of September 1792 aged 66 years/ also of Mary his wife/ who died on the 29th December 1809 aged 75 years/ also of William and John their sons/ who met a premature death being accidentally drowned at an early age/ also of Charles CATTON youngest son/ of the above Thomas & Mary CATTON who in 1795 (on the medical staff) accompanied the expedition under Sir Ralph ABERCROMBY to the West Indies/ and died at La Baye in Grenada in the service of his country age 25 years/ also of Richard CATTON/ son of the aforesaid Thomas and Mary/ many years a solicitor at Fakenham in Norfolk/ who departed this life on the 20th May 1822 aged 52 years/ and of Eleanor his wife/ who died on the 23rd of November 1824 aged 52 years
